Traditionally defined in the workforce to the effect of output per input (e.g. lightbulbs manufactured per kg of material). The definition has now expanded to be somewhat abstract and constitute the general concept of producing value and avoiding activities that do not contribute to this (i.e. Procrastination). Youtube has accelerated the development of an era of ’neo-productivity’ Yes, a term I just created that describes different elements of hustle culture particularly around optimising work and self-improvement.

Meaningful Productivity

Perhaps something I don’t want to say I coined but I probably got this idea from a variety of sources, but some notable influences would be Ali Abdaal and Cal Newport. The idea is to make sure that you are productive in things that actually matter and further your life (i.e. give meaning to your life), particularly ones that bring you closer to achieving your Goals.

Techniques include:

Bringing it all together

In essence, what all these have in common is deciding on a major important task each day that is important for your own development or progression in life. It is probably best to start with the Daily Highlight and then add the other rules as you progress.

I have decided to implement this in the form of a Startup Ritual.
